Door check-in guide for staff
Last updated August 8, 2026
Before the event
The event organizer sends you a staff link. That link is everything you need: open it in the browser on any phone — iPhone or Android — and you have a ticket scanner. There is no app to install and no login. Keep the link private; anyone who has it can check people in.
When you first open the link, allow camera access so the scanner can read QR codes. You'll need an internet connection throughout the event.
Scanning tickets
Attendees show a QR code from their ticket email or ticket page. Point the camera at the code — the result appears immediately:
- Valid ticket (green) — entry confirmed. Let the attendee in. The ticket is now marked as used.
- Already checked in (yellow) — this ticket was scanned before, and the screen shows when. Stop and verify: the attendee may have re-shown their own ticket by mistake, or someone may be reusing a screenshot. Don't allow entry until you're sure.
- Wrong event (red) — a real ticket, but for a different event. Don't allow entry for this event.
- Void ticket (red) — the ticket was cancelled (for example, refunded). Don't allow entry.
- Unknown ticket (red) — the code is invalid or altered. Don't allow entry.
The counter at the top shows how many attendees are checked in out of the total, so you always know how the night is going.
If the camera doesn't work
On devices without a usable camera (or if the attendee's screen is cracked or too dim to scan), use the Enter ticket code field: type the short code printed under the QR on the attendee's ticket and submit. The result is the same as scanning.
Scanned the wrong ticket?
If you checked someone in by mistake, use Undo on the result screen. The ticket becomes valid again for a future scan.
If the link stops working
A message saying the check-in link is invalid or revoked means the organizer disabled it. Ask the organizer to create a new staff link and send it to you.
Quick tips
- Ask attendees to turn their screen brightness up — dim screens scan slowly.
- The scanner works in any modern phone browser; if it misbehaves, reload the page.
- One ticket admits one person. Groups show one QR per ticket in the same email — scan each one.
